9 - 10am: Figurative Clay with Kelly Connole: Our guest curator and writer for Tempered Beasts (on view during the MEA weekend), Kelly Connole tells it like it is, providing a window into the world of the figure and clay. The images she'll share will be enough to leave your jaw on the floor. Once you haverecieved your dose of imagery inspiration, get ready to bring your imagined figures to life!
10am - 5pm: Alessandro Gallo and Russell Wrankle: Spend time with accomplished figurative artists learning about their process and building sculptural skills you can bring back to the classroom—and your home studio! Anthropomorphic sculptors Alessandro Gallo and Russell Wrankle continue to blur the line between humanity and the animal kingdom. Globally recognized, they will bring their techniques for capturing the tension and drama of the human condition to our locale. You will leave the experience with insight for your studio practice and your classroom. Branch out, or step further into the world of sculpture. Your students will appreciate your new found knowledge and you may find you don't want figurative Friday to end. It doesn't have to! Attend the reception for Tempered Beasts the same evening at NCC to continue your learning experience (FREE, 6 - 8 PM).
