Description: Your gregarious host to slip-casting, Evan Hauser (2017 - 2018 Anonymous Artist Fellow), will cover all the steps of the slip-casting process. Beginning with a form, students will learn the proper techniques of replication through molds. This includes how to make the initial clay bed, measure and mix plaster, and techniques for opening new molds. After molds have been created, students will learn how slip is created from raw clay materials. Understanding the slip-making process allows for a better understanding of outcomes. We will be also investigate and troubleshoot removing forms from the mold. Once forms have been successfully cast, we will alter, combine, and/or glaze our wares as we finalize the creative process.
