Work with veritable master of sprig molds, Kate Maury, and expand your ceramic toolkit with myriad sprig molds that will be sure to take your work to the next level. Impress your students with a rich cornucopia of potential texture. This workshop will have a hand's-on aspect.
1:00 - 4:00pm Darts and Templates with Jan McKeachie Johnston
Delve into the world of darts and templates with Jan McKeachie Johnston, and “sew” yourself some new forms in the process. Jan’s pots, paired with her expert handling of the fettling knife, will inspire your handbuilding aspirations. Alter your work in unexpected ways.
4:00 - 5:00pm: NCECA 2019 411 & Lesson Plan Open Mic
NCECA 2019 is taking place in Minneapolis March 26 – 30. NCC’s own Sarah Millfelt and artist/educator Tricia Schmidt have the inside scoop on the slew of educator-specific programs happening in conjunction with the conference. We’ll talk informally about ways to engage your students in conference activities, volunteer opportunities, the K12 National Student Show, and educator centric programs.” After Discussing NCECA 2019 opportunities, take some time to share/discuss/problem solve your favorite clay lesson plans with the group.
The fee for the full day of activities is $25. Participants are responsible for providing their own lunch each day.
