Sunshine Cobb received her BA in Studio Arts from California State University–Sacramento and her MFA from Utah State University. She served as a long-time resident at the Archie Bray Foundation, has been the recipient of multiple awards, and was named 2013’s Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly and the National Council of Education. In addition to being a full-time studio artist and owner of Sidecar Studios in Sacramento, she travels the country lecturing and demonstrating her handmade functional pottery. Utilizing traditional techniques, Cobb’s work embodies the importance of hand-made pottery in an era of disposability, while representing a new model of a functional potter in the modern era. She insists that her work remain functional—an object that finds its way into our busy days, creating a connection between the maker and its user.
