Dan Anderson received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. In 2002, he retired from teaching ceramics for thirty-two years at the Southern Illinois University–Edwardsville. Throughout his career, Anderson has lectured and demonstrated his process at over 150 locations and has received numerous grants and awards, including an NEA Artist Fellowship, twelve Illinois Arts Council grants, and a Ford Foundation Grant. His artwork is represented by major galleries across the country and included in numerous private and permanent collections. Inspired on a collegiate trip to Italy, Anderson has been wood firing architecturally-inspired objects and utilitarian pots for over thirty years.
