Austin Riddle received his BFA in ceramics from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. His practice focuses on functional wheel-thrown forms, utilizing both soda and electric kiln firing techniques. Riddle is influenced by mid-century American aesthetics and the values of a “simpler life.” He says of his work, “The simplicity of form references my perception of that time period in an effort to inform and to clarify the complexity of the present and future.” He has been awarded residencies from the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; The Bright Angle in Asheville, North Carolina; and the Art Center West in Roswell, Georgia.
