Melissa Mencini

Melissa Mencini received her MFA from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and her BFA from Bowling Green State University. Mencini lives in Austin, Texas where she works as a full-time studio artist and educator. She has taught ceramics in a variety of locations, including University of Alaska, Anchorage; Eastern Washington University, Cheney; and University of Washington in Seattle. Mencini is interested in intimacy with smaller functional objects and subtlety of form. Her surfaces draw upon popular culture references and interplay with form and user. She has been a resident of the Archie Bray Foundation for Ceramic Arts in Helena, Montana, and a recipient of the Lincoln Fellowship.
