Jill Foote-Hutton

Jill Foote-Hutton, of Whistlepig Studio, received her MFA in ceramics from the University of Mississippi–Oxford in 2003, and her BFA in sculpture from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1994. Since 2010, Foote-Hutton has been engaging with the community with her series Communal Narratives. This project encourages narrative and exploration through storytelling. Foote-Hutton draws inspiration from tribal culture, Joseph Campbell, comic books, anime, and art history. Whistlepig Studio aims to turn fears into strengths, “converting monster to ally through a series of creative engagements." Since the beginning of Whistlepig Studios, Foote-Hutton has traveled and engaged communities with interactive monster chalkboards in Missouri, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Texas, Montana, and Florida.
