Grace Sheese was born in Taipei, Taiwan; she immigrated to the US when she was 8. She earneda BA in Studio Art and Education at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, where she fell in love with clay. After teaching elementary school for seven years, Sheese became a full-time studio potter in Eugene, Oregon. She earned an MFA from Illinois State University in 2012. After graduate school, she re-established her studio practice. In between a busy life with her son and husband, she eagerly explores telling stories with clay. Sheese says, “The story unfolds across the inside, outside, and even the underside of each piece. Moving the story across the pots is my invitation for you to explore and to imagine the story.”
