Birdie Boone holds a BA from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Massachusetts–Dartmouth. She served as a resident artist at the Archie Bray Foundation for two years, and currently maintains a studio in Meadowview, Virginia. Boone’s dishes are understated, minimal objects; they are, at times, even overlooked, though worthy of investigation. She addresses the significance of the domestic experience through honest, simple compositions in which every element is carefully considered. She has developed a line of tinted, transparent glazes that are applied over an opaque slip, purposefully disclosing the dark clay beneath.
